I can’t go on enough about this couple’s resilience. The trouble they had with their wedding day and how they handled it – spiritually, emotionally, physically, and mentally – was amazing to witness and see them walk through. The perseverance and patience they displayed speaks volumes of their character and their bond. You see, the day of their wedding was the “outbreak” weekend of COVID-19 in America. Their wedding day was scheduled for March 22nd, and Gov. Abbott announced a state-wide lockdown to go into effect March 20th (Friday) at midnight. Thursday morning, Sarah called me and said, “we are getting married tomorrow… can you be there?” and I said, “I would not miss it”. And with that, less than 24 hours later I met the two of them at the most gorgeous and brand-new venue where they got married and celebrated with only their closest friends and family. The venue – Oak + Ivy – happens to be owned by the bride’s family and was honestly PERFECT for their day. Everything about the decorations was so clean, timeless, and simple and reflected this couple to a T. Then you have a hint of quirky with their hashtag “#CORNVID-20”. They’re so dang cute. If there was an award for “best wedding hashtag of the year”, this might just be the winner. We had gorgeous weather, SO much pie, and such a sweet and sincere day in the midst of something undeniably scary and unstable like a pandemic.
